Matt Henschel
CPD Director of Field Operations
Matt Henschel is the Director responsible for close protection, undercover operations and surveillance assignments. His 12 years working in the private sector has resulted in a highly regarded management portfolio within the protection and investigation industry. Matt has dedicated himself to law enforcement, military and private sector research through which he continually upgrades his unique approach to client service, team development and project methodology. He also has conducted over 2,000 protection and investigation assignments involving Canadian crown corporations, the National Hockey League and various levels of government. He is licensed through the British Columbia Attorney General's office as a Provincial Security Consultant. His post-secondary education is in criminology and he remains current in the study of the humanities, ethics, discipline and legal liability.
Chris DeLorey
CPD Field Operations Manager
Chris DeLorey is certified through the National Law Enforcement Training Center and is a nationally certified instructor in Control/Defensive Tactics, Power Handcuffing, Knife Defense & Disarming, Capsaicinoid Aerosol Spray, Universal Baton, and Lateral Vascular Neck Restraint. Chris has instructed police in Defense Tactics in Canada and the United States of America. He is an internationally recognized Personal Protection Instructor and is a fifth degree black belt with over 26 years experience in the Martial Arts. An expert in the Executive Protection Industry, Chris DeLorey has been an active protective specialist for 14 years, and a member of teams employed by NATO and the Papal visit. He also has extensive experience protecting corporate clients and film, music and sports celebrities.
John McKay
CPD Training & Operations Consultant
Inspector John McKay has been a police officer for over 25 years and is currently serving with the Vancouver Police Department. He has conducted over 300 critical operations as the squad leader of the Emergency Response Team and the supervisor of the riot squad/crowd control unit, and is a recipient of the Chief Constable’s Unit Commendation for his actions during the Stanley Cup riots of 1994. Inspector McKay has significant experience in the protection of high-risk witnesses testifying against organized crime. He pioneered British Columbia’s Use-Of-Force program for police officers, is certified in Close Protection, and is a weapons and control tactics instructor. A member of the American Society of Law Enforcement Trainers (ASLET), Inspector McKay is an internationally recognized trainer in violence prevention and personal security. He is a liabilities specialist and is recognized by the Canadian Judiciary as an expert witness on Use-Of-Force. Inspector McKay is a second-degree black belt with 35 years experience in the Martial Arts.
Jim Tait
CPD Intelligence Development Coordinator
Jim Tait is a former member of the RCMP with 25 years investigation and management experience, primarily as a drug enforcement officer in Ontario and British Columbia. He specialized in conducting and managing complex under cover operations, as well as coordinating intelligence development with government agencies throughout the world. Jim is trained in VIP protection and is a graduate from the Canadian Police College in senior police administration. He is qualified in advanced writing content analysis to detect intent or deception in written statements, as well as conducting psychological profiling. He holds the designation of certified fraud examiner, having spent six years in corporate bank security following his service with the RCMP, and is currently responsible for managing the FBIG General Investigations Section.
Gilles Parisien - Field Operations
This member of our team brings with him 21 years of Canadian Military Police experience retiring as a Sergeant in 1995. During his career he provided security to the Canadian Embassy, its Ambassadors and VIPs, in Iran, Cypress, Germany and Norway. Working at several military bases throughout his career, he became proficient in conducting and supervising a multitude of investigations. His security credentials include certification as an Aircraft Security Officer for the Prime Minister and Governor General of Canada. Disciplined and knowledgeable in Security and Surveillance this licensed Private Investigator of seven years heads a team of Surveillance Investigators dedicated to their assignments.
Joe Tkach - Senior Inquiries Investigator
After a 28 yr . career in the RCMP Joe came to FBIG Investigations in 1996. His credentials include a Bachelor of Commerce degree, cum laude, from Dalhousie University in Halifax, Nova Scotia and a graduate of the Executive Development Program at the Canadian Police College, Ottawa, Ontario. His RCMP duties included all aspects of criminal investigations including VIP Protection, but mainly consisted of investigating white-collar crime. He also established policy in the origin of the Halifax Commercial Fraud Section, set up a Securities Investigation Section in Winnipeg and the first RCMP Commercial Crime Section in Prince Edward Island. His investigative talents also resulted in his serving as the Inspector in Charge, RCMP Complaints and Internal Investigations for the Province of British Columbia. He also conducted sensitive and high profile investigations on behalf of the Commanding Officer and the Attorney General. In addition to the many legal courses he has completed he also has his Private Investigator and Security Consultant license, and the designation of Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE), from the Association of Fraud Examiners in Austin, Texas.
